HR Director | 7 Years with Vesta
Started as: Executive Assistant to the CEO
When Camille Bohnert joined Vesta seven years ago, the company was still very much in its building phase (literally). The corporate office operated out of a two-bedroom apartment, collaboration happened around shared living spaces, and the team was small, close-knit, and growing fast.
Camille started as Executive Assistant to the CEO, drawn to the opportunity to make a real impact at a company where initiative mattered. From the beginning, she saw Vesta as a place where ideas were welcomed, personalities were valued, and growth was encouraged, something she still remembers clearly from her interview process.
As the company evolved, Camille noticed a growing need: there was no formal HR department. What began as helping managers answer questions and support employees quickly turned into a vision for something bigger. Leadership recognized that potential early on and trusted Camille to pursue HR certification and build Vesta’s first HR department from the ground up.
That trust became a defining moment in her career.
Over time, Camille transitioned from Executive Assistant to HR Specialist, and eventually into her current role as HR Director. Along the way, she developed a deep mix of leadership and technical skills, from conflict resolution and performance management to compliance, payroll, benefits, and building systems from scratch. More importantly, she grew into a leader who balances empathy with accountability and structure with people-first decision-making.
Today, Camille leads a department she built herself, supporting employees across the company at every stage of their journey. What keeps her at Vesta is both deeply personal and professional: the team she mentors, the relationships she’s built, and the pride of seeing something she created run as a trusted, well-functioning part of the organization.
When asked how she describes Vesta’s culture, Camille points to its willingness to evolve.
“Vesta is always looking for ways to improve,” she says. “We value ideas, creativity, and initiative. People here are trusted to speak up, take ownership, and grow alongside the company.”
Looking back, Camille is most proud of the impact her work has had, not just the department she built, but the people she’s helped develop along the way. Her advice for anyone hoping to grow at Vesta is simple: take initiative, look for gaps, and don’t be afraid to step in.
Growth, she believes, comes from showing up, adding value, and being invested in building something bigger than yourself.
